About Barloom

A loom turns single threads into cloth. Barloom does the same with data: type a few characters and it weaves them into bars or modules that any scanner can read.

It began as a small React demo that made Code 128 barcodes and read two formats from a camera. It is now a full Next.js site with 107 entries in 13 families, a scanner built on the ZXing engine, and encoders from the Barcode Writer in Pure PostScript project through bwip-js.

How it works

Every code is drawn in your browser. Barloom has no accounts, no database and no upload step. The pages are static, so they load fast and cost almost nothing to serve.

Check before you print

Generated codes follow the published symbology rules, but your scanner, printer and label stock decide how well a code reads. Test a printed sample with the scanner you will use. Payment and healthcare codes carry real consequences, so confirm the layout with your bank, regulator or standards body.

Browse all types or open the scanner.
